A Mid-Year Reflection From Modo Yoga CEO – 2025

Dear Modo Yoga Community,

Somehow, we’re already halfway through 2025. Time feels like it’s moving faster than ever. In a world that feels increasingly busy, uncertain, and—at times—overwhelming, I wanted to take a moment with you. A pause. A breath. A chance to reflect on how far we’ve come and what we’ve chosen to carry with us.

At Modo, we often say that our practice is a mirror: what we learn on the mat prepares us for the life we lead beyond it. Inside the four walls of our Modo studios, we practice staying with discomfort—not to push ourselves for the sake of achievement, but to cultivate presence, steadiness, and resilience. We learn to ground in the middle of challenge. We find breath when things feel unsteady. We practice not jumping out the moment it gets hard, but instead softening into what is.

These tools—the breath, the awareness, the discipline, the humility—don’t just support us in challenging postures like Prayer Twist or Runner’s Lunge. They support us when we’re navigating a hard conversation, reading painful headlines, or managing the unknown. They help us become kinder humans. And in a time when kindness can feel like a fleeting currency, that is no small thing.

And here’s something even more beautiful: though each of us may practice in one home studio, we are all connected to something so much bigger.

Together, we make up a collective of more than 35 studios—stretching across cities, provinces, states, and countries. We are a global community of people who are deliberately choosing to slow down, to disconnect from devices, to connect with our breath, to move mindfully, and to live with greater intention. That choice—your choice—has a ripple effect that travels far beyond the four walls of our studios. The impact of hundreds of thousands of people showing up, softening their hearts, listening deeply, and acting with care has more power than we often realize. That’s a pretty amazing thing.

None of this would be possible without our amazing studio owners, staff and teachers—the ones who open the doors, welcome the community, and hold space for us to come home to ourselves. Their care, dedication, and love for this practice make each class feel welcoming, grounding, and real. To every teacher, studio staff and owner in our community: thank you for showing up, day after day, with open hearts and steady presence.

And to our amazing students: thank you. Thank you for showing up. For making space for yourself. For choosing to be part of this community. You are a vital part of something meaningful, and your presence matters—more than you know.

As we head into the second half of 2025, I invite you to set a simple intention. One that feels aligned, honest, and grounding. Maybe it’s a word you can return to when the world gets loud. For me, that word is ease. I’m carrying it with me as a reminder to soften my edges, to trust the flow, and to meet what comes with grace.

What’s your word?

Whatever you choose, may it guide you toward more presence, more connection, and more joy in the months ahead.

Thank you for continuing to land on your mat, and be a part of this amazing community.

With deep gratitude,
Emily Drouillard
