Suzanna Derewicz did her Level 1 Teacher Training with Modo Yoga International in Kelowna BC, July of 2019. As both teacher and student she prioritizes mindfulness, as well as working with imagery and intention to promote the building of a self-aware, meditative, and therapeutic practice. Having access to a safe, constant, and secure space that allows her to look inwards and make personal shifts is what brings her to her mat. She has a special relationship with the Modo sequence for how it challenges practitioners to match the physical strength and holding that’s demanded of the postures with their own personal holding of whatever is happening emotionally and mentally, and to stay present with it. She also trains with the Ontario Psychotherapy and Counselling Program, is a published writer, former performer and theatre practitioner, all of which inspire her teaching style. She’s been a member of the Modo Yoga Bloor West community for three years and counting, and is very excited to learn and grow as a teacher while giving back to the community that continues to buttress her wellness journey.
