Premadasa first dipped his toe in the ocean of yoga in 1998 as he began his journey to explore the roots of his cultural heritage. Resulting from immersion in the various lineages of hatha yoga, Premadasa developed a thirst to learn more about classical ashtanga yoga. His interest in the philosophy, practice, and spiritual devotion of ashtanga yoga brought him into contact with Paramhansa Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi, a book of tremendous spiritual significance for the 20th century. He realized that within its pages Babaji, the spiritual fountainhead of kriya yoga could quench his thirst and shortly thereafter he resolved to learn more about becoming initiated into kriya yoga.
