Amanda began her yoga practice at a time when she felt the overwhelming effects of postpartum depression and other health issues. She decided as a last resort, to make time for herself to support her day to day stress and went to her first Modo class. At Modo Brant, she experienced for the first time, stepping out of her ‘head’ and into her body. She felt strength return, resilience arise, and most importantly, self acceptance. Time, and daily stress felt a little lighter, more manageable.
Amanda continued her dedicated practice which led her to complete her 500 hour Modo Yoga Teacher Training in 2020. She also is certified in Mindfulness guidance and Modo Yoga Flow. Amanda is certified in L1 Animal Flow, and regularly offers Trauma Informed yoga in her own community in Six Nations. Amanda has pledged to use 10% of her income to support a fund towards empowerment workshops for young Indigenous women and girls in hopes the reclaim their power over the MMIW pandemic.
Amanda hopes to guide her students out of their heads to experience all the lovely benefits yoga has to offer.
