I took my first group yoga class in the mid 90’s in a very cool church space in downtown
Toronto. It was a full candlelit room where moving bodies mindfully entered each posture
they were led into by this warm, fluid voice floating around the room. The vinyasa flow
was accompanied by an incredible ocean-like sound of synchronous breathing. I left
feeling very worked out and totally blissed out. Soon after, this same teacher opened her
very first Yoga Space studio next door to the church. In this space, she led her first yoga
teacher training and I found myself enrolled. That inaugural 350hr YTT radically shifted
me (as teacher trainings often do!). On the heels of this training, I certified as a Thai
Massage practitioner under the tutelage of Kam Thye Chow.
Fun fact about me: I frequently have solo kitchen dance parties!
You’ll find me in the small studio space at Modo for yoga practices that nurture your
nervous system, calm the mind, create space within and are sometimes even playful. I
love seeing yoga poses come alive when students discover the alignment that allows for
a balance of ease and effort in an active pose. Equally joyful to see students walk out
after a restorative class with relaxation & calm evident on their faces.
It’s been 24 years of full-time teaching yoga and providing Thai Massage and leading
Thai Massage trainings. There have been many ‘beginning again’ moments in those
years yet, I’m still very passionate about these inherently intelligent movement modalities
and love sharing them with others. So, I am very grateful to be part of the Modo Yoga
Brooklin community of teachers where I can continue sharing from the variety of styles of
yoga that have shaped my practice over the years – Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, Iyengar,
Anusara, Kundalini and Purna Yoga – along with functional movement, meditation and
