Modo Yoga is a community of independently owned and operated hot yoga studios, guided by our 6 Pillars, united by our love for yoga, and dedicated to creating a more sustainable world. With over 70 locations across North America, Europe and Australia – every studio is a place for all. We welcome all bodies and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or an experienced student.
All Modo Yoga classes are built on the foundation of our Modo series – a dynamic system of postures and breathing exercises specifically designed to be practiced in the heat. Modo classes are accessible to all, from beginners to advanced students. A typical Modo class will have around 40 postures. Each class is intended to open, strengthen and relax the entire body.
All of our classes are heated to between 98 – 102 degrees Fahrenheit with approximately 40% humidity. External weather conditions and the number of students in the class can have an effect on the humidity inside the room. If you’ve never practiced hot yoga before it might feel quite hot during your first class, but over time, your body will acclimatize to the heat. Students are encouraged move through each class at their own pace, taking rest and water when needed.
Yoga builds strength and flexibility. It also makes us more aware of our breath, which ultimately helps to relax and calm the body and mind. People who practice regularly often notice that they are happier, have better focus, and are more able to handle the stresses of everyday life.
Yup, it sure is! And we’re pretty confident that when you come try us out, you’ll see that it is too.
Wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move around in. You’ll likely sweat a lot, so lightweight, breathable materials that absorb sweat and dry quickly are best. Shorts or leggings, a tee-shirt or a tank top are all great options.
That’s just not true! There is no such thing as being good or bad at yoga, there’s only where you are at this very moment in time. Every student in our studio had to start somewhere, and from that place it’s all just progress.
We’ve definitely heard that before! Being the least flexible person in the entire world is the best reason to try a Modo Yoga class! But really, don’t worry if you can’t touch your toes or balance on one foot – flexibility will come with time. You don’t have to be flexible to try your first class.
You’ll need a yoga mat, a towel and water for class. If you’re here for the first time, yoga mats and towels are complimentary, and after that they are available for rent or purchase. We have water bottles for sale and filtered water available at the studio so BYOB – bring your own bottle! We also recommend bringing a change of clothes for after class – did we mention you’ll sweat a lot?!
Children under the age of 18 are not allowed in the hot room without prior approval from parents or legal guardians. A parent must sign the liability waiver on behalf of the child. If a child is under the age of 14, Modo Yoga strongly suggests children under the age of 14 not participate in hot yoga classes. However, if they are well behaved and respect the space like any other student they are more than welcome to participate with an accompanying parent or legal guardian.
Stuff happens – we totally get it! But unfortunately, we can’t let latecomers in once the teacher enters the room. Every class starts and ends on time to help provide a peaceful, distraction free experience for all.
Our teachers are committed to providing a safe, distraction-free, guided class to every student in the room. Even if you’re an advanced practitioner, if you pop up into a headstand while the rest of the class is in pigeon it can pull students (not to mention the teacher’s) focus on their own task at hand. If you are really yearning to take some advanced poses, our studio is always open 30 minutes before and after class to provide time for personal practice.
You’ve committed to attending a 60 or 75 minute class. We want you to get the full benefit of savasana and the peace that it brings before we wrap up our practice. Our teachers keep a close eye on time, so please stay in the room until the teacher wraps up class an says “Namaste.”
No way! We have showers and locker rooms available in the studio. However, we kindly request that you conserve water and respect fellow students by taking short showers. Additionally, please respect the studio space by changing quickly in order to allow us to close up shop 30 minutes after classes are finished.
We’re sorry to see you go, but we understand that life changes. For any monthly auto-renew membership, we require a 30 Day WRITTEN notice of cancellation. Please contact info@modoyogacolumbus.com and we’ll get back to you within two business days. And don’t worry, you’re always welcome back in the future to get sweaty with us again!
