Jessica Y

Student / Modo Teacher

Why do you love the Modo community?

At Modo everyday is a new experience. The instructors, students, and class varieties all bring me a new exciting and fun experience every time I walk through the door.

Why do you teach yoga?

I started my teacher training with no intention of teaching. I wanted to learn and strength my own practice. As I began teaching I found it to be exactly what I needed – bringing the experiences and parts of yoga which have impacted my life so greatly to others.

What yoga certifications do you have?

200 RYT Primary; Group Exercise Instructor

If you were an animal, what would it be?

Elephant

You have one day completely to yourself in Columbus.  What do you do?

Take a yoga class and probably sleep.

What’s your favorite yoga pose and why?

Lizard/dragon pose. The movement of opening my hips is constantly changing. I’m able to modify or vary this pose as my body needs and it can be a yang or yin pose. The pose is so helpful for so many areas of the body in addition to the hips so there is a lot of benefit for it in my practice.

You can only eat at one Columbus restaurant for the rest of your life.  What is it?

Pat and Gracie’s downtown location. I absolutely love their food and usually their rotating draft selection. Everything is fresh made – no freezer or microwave in the kitchen. Great atmosphere and it’s close to my house!
