Sivananda follows a set sequence that can include several variations. This class is held in the Shiva Room Downtown (non-heated) and begins with about 15 to 20 minutes of different pranayama (breathing) exercises. To warm up, a series of flowing movements called sun salutations are practiced. Each movement is coordinated with the breath to bring the mind to focus. Then 12 empowering postures (with the potential for variations) will follow. Class closes with a 10- to 15-minute deep guided rest pose (Savasana). Equally calming and invigorating, Sivananda is a very special yoga practice that you are welcome to try!
