Emily

Yoga Advisor

Emily has been a part of the Modo Yoga Maple community since September 2012. She has been part of our Energy Exchange (EE) program, front desk team, and currently supports our community in her role as our Yoga Advisor.

Emily has been practicing yoga since 2002 and completed a yoga teacher training in the Kripalu tradition in 2006. She discovered Modo (previously known as Moksha) yoga in Peterborough when she was completing her master’s degree in sustainability studies at Trent University. She went on to earn a PhD in sport sociology at York University, focusing on the experience of care and caring in youth completive volleyball. Emily’s current work is in the fields of public health and road safety, with a focus on sustainable transportation and the protection of vulnerable road users (e.g., anyone who walks or wheels).

Emily continues to be a part of our vibrant MYM community in the yoga advisor role and also by sharing her voice and music in our Live Music yoga classes. If you haven’t had the chance to take one of these classes, we highly recommend – such a treat!
