Elisa Schwarz

Teacher

Elisa began practicing yoga with her dad as a little girl through meditation and chanting. However, it wasn’t until about 15 years ago that her deep love and respect for yoga was fully ignited at the Downward Dog Ashtanga centre in Toronto with Diane Bruni and Ron Reid. Since then, she has completed teacher trainings in Anusara, Modo Yoga, pre-natal and kids yoga and has had the privilege of studying with many inspiring teachers. While at theatre school, where she completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts, yoga became an essential element of her growth as an actor and as an artist. Elisa is passionate about sharing yoga with marginalized youth. She has taught yoga and drama workshops at inner city schools across Canada and is on the board of directors of New Leaf Yoga -which offers yoga to incarcerated youth. Although Elisa loves her “other” job in the media and theatre as an actor, director, on-air host, writer and researcher, the Montreal Modo studios are her home. After teaching yoga in Taiwan and Vietnam, Elisa got to work on her greatest accomplishment, her 2 wonderful sons -who have already taught her so much more than she will ever be able to teach them.
