Studio guidelines

Our aim is to create a grounding, supportive space for as many students as possible in every class we offer. We believe that cultivating a peaceful studio environment—an oasis from the bustle of city life—lies in the details. Please take a moment to review the studio guidelines that help us build this special space together!

Community Agreements

Community At Our Core

Modo Yoga NYC works to build a community of trust, peace, and respect. To do so, we strive to practice nonviolence (Ahimsa) in all our communications and interactions at the studio. We believe yoga is for every body and do not tolerate discrimination of any kind based on size, race, gender, age, sexual orientation, ethnicity, ability or any other aspects of identity.

Silent Practice Rooms

Many of us come to yoga to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, so please, leave all conversations outside the hot room.

Clutter-Free Spaces

There is only so much space in our practice rooms! Please leave all your belongings in the lockers. Bring your water bottle, mat, and practice towel into the space. We ask that no other belongings be brought into the practice rooms.

Phone & Tech-Free Hot Rooms

We keep our hot rooms free from distractions and technology. Please be sure you’ve locked up your phone and devices so the practice room remains a phone and tech-free space.

Booking policies

Pre-Registration

All students can pre-register for class 7 days in advance. While walk-ins are welcome, pre-registration is encouraged to secure a space in class.

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel your class online or from your app up to 2 hours before class without any penalty. Please note that we do not accept phone or email cancellations. After the 2-hour window a late cancelation or no-show will result in the following charges:

Members who late cancel (cancel within 2 hours of class) will receive a $10 late cancellation fee.

Members who are no-shows (do not cancel and do not check-in for class) will receive a $20 no-show fee.

Class Card or Drop-In students will forfeit their credit for both late cancellations and no-shows but will not be charged any additional fees.

We cannot make individual exceptions to these policies, thank you for understanding.

Waitlist

Even when a class appears full, you may, and should, add yourself to the waitlist. When a cancelation is made, the first name on the waitlist gets automatically added to the class. If you are signed up for notifications, you will receive an email and text as soon as you are moved off the waitlist. This will happen up until 2 hours before class. Once you are added to the class from the waitlist, you become responsible for attending or canceling like any other reservation. If you are on the waitlist and know you do not plan to come to class, make sure to remove yourself before being added without adequate time to plan ahead or cancel without penalty (less than 2h before class).

If you are booked for class, your spot is held up until 5 minutes before class. At 5 minutes before class, any student who has not checked in for class will risk losing their spot to someone who is present from the waitlist. We understand how frustrating this can be—to avoid losing your spot, arrive early (5 minutes or more) and be ready to go!

Late Arrivals

To ensure a safe and positive class experience for students and teachers alike, we do not allow late entry into classes. Once the teacher has entered the hot room and class has begun, students will not be allowed to enter late.
