Warm YIN is great for anyone that feels tight from sitting down all day or anyone that has a busy life and wants to slow things down. It’s also a great class for athletes and for those that are stressed, injured, experiencing chronic pain or illness. This class is suitable for all levels and is a great compliment to your regular yoga practice.
Warm YIN is essentially a stretching class. It’s a gentle, slow, non striving meditative style of yoga. All poses are done seated or reclined and are held for 3-5 minutes. While movement based yoga classes focus on muscles, yin yoga targets the deep connective tissues like fascia, tendons, ligaments, joints, and even bones. Longer held poses not only lengthen those rarely-used tissues, they can also teach us how to turn inward, observe the physical sensations of the body, breathe through discomfort and even notice the mind and its thought patterns.
