Sophie’s Bio:
Sophie Songbird believes in the transformative power of music and singing. From a young age, she found solace and strength in music. Though raised in the Ottawa Valley, Sophie’s adventurous spirit led her around the world, with significant time spent in India, Haiti, Thailand, and Yellowknife. Her debut album As I Am (2002) was composed in Haiti and recorded in Thailand, while her second album A Place In Me (2009) was recorded in Yellowknife, where she was a beloved performer and educator.

Sophie’s journey into yoga began in Yellowknife, leading her to complete Sivananda Yoga Teacher Training in 2020 and receive the spiritual name Vani Devi, meaning “Mother of Voice.” Through her exploration of Bhakti Yoga, she learned the power of chanting mantras, playing the harmonium, and leading kirtans at various ashrams. Sophie’s voice is warm, rich, and healing, and she is passionate about creating spaces where others can connect to the essence of who they truly are through the power of chanting.
