Lauren Etter

Teacher / Studio Manager

Lauren first came to yoga as a young dancer, but it wasn’t until Modo NYC opened in the building where she was teaching ballet that she found a love for the practice. Modo gave her space and time to explore her body and mind without judgement, and this is what she hopes to create for students.

Grounded in a firm and ever-evolving knowledge of the physical body, Lauren encourages safe practice, often providing options and variations of postures. As her understanding of yoga philosophy deepens, Lauren always considers how to offer an asana practice in a more responsible way, both in tribute to the lineage of the practice and with respect for students practicing, and how to encourage us all to take our yoga practice off of our mats and into the rest of our lives.

In 2019 Lauren completed her MFA in Dance at UC Irvine and relocated to San Diego with her husband, who serves in the US Navy. Lauren is forever grateful for and inspired by the Modo community for its commitment to our planet and its beings as we work together toward peace.
