I’ve been practicing yoga for just over 12 years on and off, but in the last few years I really dove in and made it a habitual part of who I am. Yoga has become a lifestyle, my home within. A becon of hope and a practice of love and gratitude for myself as well for the outside world and the people in it.
As many did before me, yoga started out as purely physical. Nothing but an outward “means to an end” to feed my body with movement for the physical health benefits.
As time went on and the more I let myself surrender and be enveloped to the mental and emotional shifts yoga brings, my beliefs in how we feed our bodies with powerful asanas became balanced with how we feed our bodies with the powerful mental and emotional stories we tell ourselves, and with that there was a metamorphic shift! My practice shifted, but so did my whole belief system and who I was drastically changed. I started bearing more intention as well as balance within my practice, but also life as a whole. Intention of mind, body, breath, spirit, and acceptance of what is, but also the ability of stillness to remain open to receive what will come.
Yoga enlightens us on and eventually, off the mat. It has the ability to teach us integration of balance and intentive perception in everything we do. The Yin and the Yang, the light and the dark, the day and the night.
Simply put, yoga and YOU make the world a better place when you take your practice off the mat.
Our practice is a private and sacred one, and we at Modo thrive in providing a safe place for those practices to flourish in a non-judgmental and all inclusive community. A place where your space is not just held, but held in the highest regard and respect.
I feel so humbled and honoured to be given the permission and responsibility to be a part of any students practice where ever they may be at in their day or lives.
I look forward to being blessed and enlightened with your breath, energy, and presence in the near future whether it be as a teacher or as a student practicing alongside one another.
From one student to another, Namaste.
