What I’ve learned about creating private yoga experiences — and why they’re so special

Over the years, I’ve had the honour and pure pleasure of guiding people through yoga and meditation practices on mornings or days when they’re gathering in celebration — moments of true connection between family and friends.

For the past couple of summers, I’ve taught yoga by the backyard river of a family that comes together once a year for a big day of kayaking and games. They always kick off their weekend with a shared yoga practice, and it’s just such a fun, joyful thing to create together. It grounds everyone and sets a beautiful, connected vibe for the whole event.

I’ve also been invited to birthday parties where we close the practice with a heartfelt circle, sharing gratitude and appreciation for the person we’re there to celebrate — it makes the time together so much more special.

There have been baby welcoming ceremonies too, where instead of a traditional shower, we gather in a circle to offer best wishes, share blessings, and do more ceremonial rituals to bring good energy to mom and baby. It’s always so touching and deeply unique.

And of course, there are bachelorette weekends and wedding mornings — times when people are already coming together in joy. A private yoga practice creates this amazing container of high-vibrational energy that sets the tone for a truly memorable day, no matter what the occasion.

It’s so much more than just taking a studio class. These experiences are curated just for you. We can shape the playlist, the vibe, even the intention or theme. It becomes a completely personalized practice, tailored to how you want people to feel — lighter, more open, maybe a little more vulnerable and connected by the end.

For me, it’s an absolute privilege to be invited into these moments. To be even a small part of helping create core memories for people, breaking down barriers, holding space for families and friends to reconnect. It’s work that fills me up in every way — and yes, it also helps me continue doing what I love, especially during our studio closure.

It’s rare for me to have this kind of spaciousness in my schedule, and I’d love to use it to connect with my community in a more personal way. If you have a special event, a weekend at the cottage, or just want to gather your people for something meaningful and fun — I’d be so honoured to help you create it.
