Michelle is Anishinaabe from Migisi Sahgaigan First Nation in Treaty #3 Territory. She is a mother, grandmother, artist, activist and storyteller. Michelle began practicing yoga in the summer of 2014, when she “accidentally” stumbled into the Moksha studio on St. Clair West in Toronto. It was there that she found her breath and began a new relationship with her body, mind and spirit. Michelle’s love for hot yoga continued to grow at the Thunder Bay Modo Studio and, over time, she discovered her practice was helping to release intergenerational trauma stemming from colonialism and her family’s history with the Residential School System. This motivated Michelle to attend the Modo Yoga Teacher Training in Nicaragua in January of 2023. MYTB helps to keep her life in balance and she is honoured to be part of the Modo community.
