We feel that good yoga classes and good work—or “right livelihood” as the Buddha called it—grows from being grounded and dedicated to practice.  That’s why the 200 hour Modo Yoga Teacher Training is open to aspiring teachers as much as it is to those looking for a learning-oriented retreat, self-care time, or a yogic approach to  personal development.

HOW IT WORKS

The Modo Yoga 200 Hour RYT is split into two parts:

1.   Deepen Your Practice

2.   Learn To Teach

Deepen Your Practice (DYP) is an online e-course and is a pre-requisite to the Learn to Teach portion of this training. During the DYP, you’ll dive into the vast landscape of yoga learning that extends far beyond what happens on the mat.  This depth of knowledge allows for a generative experience that deepens your experience of yoga and amplifies the benefits exponentially. This e-course makes up 50 hours of your 200 hour training and can be completed at your own pace.

Learn To Teach is offered at specific times throughout the year and can only be taken upon completion of the Deepen Your Practice e-course. This part of our 200 hour RYT makes up 150 hours of your certification, and is generally offered live and online, OR as a 2 week, in-person intensive.

* Your 200 Hour RYT is complete, and a certificate will be granted, after completing both Deepen Your Practice and Learn To Teach.

Yoga is a practice of mindfulness, consciousness, and exploring how life can change when we are able to slow down and become present. And, becoming present is a central experience at the teacher training. Participants share that when they leave the day-to-day grind and enter their practice with a newfound commitment, the results are truly transformative.

The Modo Yoga 200 hour teacher training is continuously developed through a process of open innovation. At the end of each training, we ask the trainees to complete an extensive review that involves evaluating every aspect of the training and their experience. The feedback is then analyzed and carefully considered as a way to enhance our offering for next time. With 3-4 trainings per year for more than 20 years now, we have benefitted from the generous and honest reviews of many people!

This approach is reflective of one of Modo’s 6 Pillars—Live to Learn.

The Modo Yoga Teacher Training takes an inquiry-based approach to learning. This means that students are guided to actively reflect on and participate in their own understanding of concepts, rather than simply memorizing the information. This allows the teachings to be absorbed and integrated in a way that is relevant to each individual.

Yoga philosophy teaches that we are active participants in our lives, rather than passive observers.  Life doesn’t just happen to us—we make it happen in order to learn the deep lessons we are here to learn as individuals.

One of the central results of taking the Modo Yoga Teacher Training is the uncovering of our deeper habit patterns—or, the bringing forth of our unconscious into consciousness. When our faculty speaks about the transformation that  often occurs at training, much of it is attributed to this process of getting to know ourselves a little better. When we uncover our unconscious patterns we are able to consciously choose which aspects of our lives we adore, and which aspects are ready for change and renewal.
