FAQ
What is Modo Yoga?
All Modo Yoga classes are built on the foundation of our Modo series – a dynamic system of postures and breathing exercises specifically designed to be practiced in the heat. Modo classes are accessible to all, from beginners to advanced students. A typical Modo class will have around 40 postures. Each class is intended to open, strengthen and relax the entire body.
How hot is Modo Yoga?
Classes are heated to around 38 degrees celsius with about 40% humidity. External weather conditions and the number of students in the class can have an effect on the temperature inside the room. If you’ve never practiced hot yoga before it might feel quite hot during your first class, but over time, your body will acclimatize to the heat. Students are encouraged move through each class at their own pace, taking rest and water when needed.
How long are Modo Yoga classes?
The majority of our classes are 60min, but Modo Yoga classes can be 45, 60, or 75 minutes long. We have a variety of classes at various lengths, so please check the schedule to see what works for you!
What are some of the benefits of yoga?
Yoga builds strength and flexibility. It also makes us more aware of our breath, which ultimately helps to relax and calm the body and mind. People who practice regularly often notice that they are happier, have better focus, and are more able to handle the stresses of everyday life.
What is the Modo Yoga community all about?
Modo Yoga is a community of independent hot yoga studios, guided by our 6 Pillars, united by our love for yoga, and dedicated to creating a more sustainable world. With over 60 locations across North America, Europe and Australia – every studio is a place for all. We welcome all bodies and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or an experienced student.
Is Modo yoga a cardio workout?
Yup, it sure is! If you're looking for even more dynamic movement, we recommend trying out our Fusion class for a healthy blend of strength conditioning, yoga, and cardio boosting movements.
What should I wear?
Wear something that you feel comfortable in that is easy to move around in. You will probably sweat a lot, so lightweight, breathable materials that will absorb sweat and dry quickly are best. Shorts or leggings, a tee-shirt or a tank top are all great options.
What should I bring?
You'll need a yoga mat and water for class. You might also want a mat towel, depending on how much you sweat. We have filtered water available at the studio so BYOB – bring your own bottle! We also recommend bringing a change of clothes for after class – did we mention you'll sweat a lot?! If you do not have a mat or towel, we do have both for sale and for rent at the studio. Rentals are $4 each or $6 for both.
What is the minimum age for your studio?
Great question. Many studios vary on this point, and have a minimum age range between 14 to 16 years old. The best determinant for if your child is ready for hot yoga is if they need to wear deodorant - this means that they are sweating and are officially post-pubescent. This point does range from individual to individual, and as such our minimum age has some variability as well. It also helps if your child is already active, and interested in using yoga to cross train for another activity; this tells us that they're already in tune with their bodies and can more easily regulate their heat and energy levels. Please reach out to [email protected] for any further inquiries, or before you bring your child to the studio, so that we can approve them for a hot practice.
Tell me about the Intro Month
The Intro Month is 30 days unlimited for $80+tax. It's the best way to try out the studio, and the variety of classes that we have to offer! The 30 days begins on the date of the first class you register for using the pass (not the purchase date).
I'm the least flexible person in the entire world...
We've definitely heard that before! Being the least flexible person in the entire world is the best reason to try a Modo Yoga class! But really, don’t worry if you can't touch your toes or balance on one foot – flexibility will come with time. You don’t have to be flexible to try your first class.
Do you have an app?
Yes! You can view your account, sign up for classes, or cancel reservations using the Modo Yoga app. Our studio is also on the MindBody app. Download the Modo Yoga app here: https://qrco.de/bczhzB
I need to cancel my reservation. What is your cancellation policy?
If you're unable to attend a class you've signed up for, you can cancel your reservation online! Be sure to cancel your reservation more than 6 hours before the class begins to avoid penalty. If it's less than 6 hours before class, email the manager or call the studio to let us know you won't be able to make it!
MYV Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made more than 6 hours before the class start time to avoid penalty. If we don't hear from you, late cancellations and no shows will result in a loss of credit (class card or drop-in), OR a $15 fee charged to your credit card (Unlimited and Intro Month members or visitors pass). Late cancellation and no show fees are charged every Tuesday for missed classes from the previous week (Monday-Sunday).
I'm running late for class...
Stuff happens – we totally get it! But unfortunately we can't let latecomers into the studio once class has started. Every class starts and ends on time to help provide a peaceful experience for all. Thanks for your understanding!
I've been added to a waitlist...
If you've been added to a waitlist, you will receive an email or text notification if/when you are added to the class roster. Notifications will be sent to students more than two hours before the class begins. If you are unsure of whether or not you've been added to a class, feel free to call the studio to double check! If you are on a waitlist and decide to attend a different class, please remove yourself from the waitlist so that others can join.
