Frequently Asked Questions

What is Modo yoga all about?

Modo Yoga is a community of independent hot yoga studios, guided by our 6 Pillars, united by our love for yoga, and dedicated to creating a more sustainable world. With over 55 locations across North America, Europe and Australia – every studio is a place for all. We welcome all bodies and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or an experienced student.

Classes are headed to around 40 degrees celsius with about 40% humidity. External weather conditions and the number of students in the class can have an effect on the temperature inside the room. If you’ve never practiced hot yoga before it might feel quite hot during your first class, but over time, your body will acclimatize to the heat. Students are encouraged move through each class at their own pace, taking rest and water when needed.

We’ve definitely heard that before! Being the least flexible person in the entire world is the best reason to try a Modo Yoga class! But really, don’t worry if you can’t touch your toes or balance on one foot – flexibility will come with time. You don’t have to be flexible to try your first class.

Wear something that you feel comfortable in that is easy to move around in. You will probably sweat a lot, so lightweight, breathable materials that will absorb sweat and dry quickly are best. Shorts or leggings, a tee-shirt or a tank top are all great options.

You’ll need a yoga mat and water for class. You might also want a mat towel, depending on how much you sweat. We have filtered water available at the studio so BYOB – bring your own bottle! Yoga mats, mat towels, shower towels and water bottles are also available to rent or buy if you don’t have your own. We also recommend bringing a change of clothes for after class – did we mention you’ll sweat a lot?!

is modo a cardio workout

Yup, it sure is!

How long are the classes?

Modo Yoga classes are 45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes long. We have a variety of classes at various lengths, so please check the schedule to see what works for you!

Stuff happens – we totally get it! But unfortunately, we can’t let latecomers in once class has started. Every class starts and ends on time to help provide a peaceful experience for all.

Yoga builds strength and flexibility. It also makes us more aware of our breath, which ultimately helps to relax and calm the body and mind. People who practice regularly often notice that they are happier, have better focus, and are more able to handle the stresses of everyday life.

We have a free parking lot at both of our locations.

Our South location on Waverley has signs indicating Modo parking.

You can practice in our hot studio from age 12 onward. if you are between the ages of 12-15 , we require an adult/guardian to be present in class.

If you are 16 or older, you do not need to be accompanied by an adult in our hot studio.
