About

Modo Yoga Portland’s Kid’s Summer Camp offers a fun-filled and robust week of activities to keep your child engaged and entertained! Our active schedule includes games, park excursions, swimming, yoga, crafts and a Friday immersive field trip! Your camper will learn the fundamentals of yoga shapes and have the opportunity to present their own teaching skills to their peers! Each day will include outside play and allow your kid to be a kid!  A mixture of organized group games, scavenger hunts at Mt. Tabor, playground picnics, swimming, 45-minute yoga classes and cultivated art activities to encourage your child’s creativity is all in a days fun at camp! We look forward to opening all the magic that Summer has to offer!

Taborspace, located in the heart of Mt. Tabor is a 36,000 square foot historic church building that boasts an impressive community calendar! Social entrepreneurs dream and develop, parents socialize over coffee while their children play, students study, professionals work, holistic healers make well, musicians practice and perform, creatives make and teach. Summer Camp this year will be held in the over 2,000 Sq. foot downstairs “Dining Room” space along with the Annex and outside Yard space for play. Please find street parking for drop-off/pick-up or use their adjacent parking lot.

Camp Director and Modo Yoga Co-Owner, Amber Reed has been surrounded by kids her entire life! At age 13 she started a “Babysitting Club,” where she “employed” a few of her friends to watch the neighborhood kids and was in high demand with friends and family gigs. At age 15, Amber began her first official job at “Kidsports,” which was a mix between Playdate PDX and 24-Hour Fitness with a children’s-focused play area + an adult workout facility. Amber wore many hats during her 7 years at Kidsports; most notably as the Kid’s Birthday Party Coordinator and Summer Camp Director! With over 200 kids in each camp week, ranging from 3 to 12, June – August was a very fun-filled and busy time of year! Throughout high school and college Amber continued to immerse herself in children’s focused programming, coaching gymnastics to school-aged and high school students and studying Early Childhood Education. After college, Amber had the “acting bug,” and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her passion for the arts. A few opportunities in front of the camera proved that the limelight wasn’t her and she gravitated towards a more business-minded career with marketing and PR at the forefront. Several years later and wanting to be closer to her immediate family, Amber moved from Los Angeles to Portland to start Modo Yoga Portland with her sister, Jen. Eight years later, their hot-yoga studio is thriving and both Amber and Jen are proud of the community they have built. They recently opened a health-focused restaurant called, O’Vive Café, which is adjacent to their yoga space. Amber is Mom to a nearly 8-year-old outgoing and feisty daughter who will be going into 3 rd grade for the 24/25 school year. In their free time, Amber and her daughter enjoy going on weekend trips to the beach, outside BBQs with family and being active. “As an involved parent to a school-aged child, I definitely saw the need for better Summer camp programming, allowing kids to be kids and look forward to reintroducing outside play, games, and yoga to our campers this year.” Amber Reed
