FAQ

Okay, about this COVID thing.....what do I need to know before I come?

You must pre-register for class.

Classes are limited to 15 people to provide the required distancing.

Hand sanitizer is available for you at the front door and at the entrance to the hot room.

Come READY TO PRACTICE (no washrooms, change rooms, or showers available at this time).

Mat, towel, and water are the ONLY things you need to practice!

You will leave your shoes at the door and place your extras in your tub. No keys, cell phones, purses, wallets, etc. permitted in the practice space.

We highly recommend leaving your "smart" watch at home. Give yourself a break from the screens while you practice. Tune into your own experience without digital monitoring.

Masks (if you are able to wear one) are required in the lobby/foyer, but NOT in the hot room. You do not need to wear a mask when you practice.

Relax and enjoy your practice. It is one of the best things you can do for yourself -- now and always.

What happens if I can't make a class?

As of July 20, all classes must be pre-registered in advance. Our max per class is 15. Please cancel ONLINE at least 90 minutes before class, if you cannot attend. This will open a spot from our waitlist for someone else eager to practice. If you do not cancel and you do not arrive, our No-Show Policy will be applied. We don't wanna do it, so please do come if you are registered. Do not call the studio -- we may not be there to retrieve your message and we need our booking system (ScheduleHouse) to work its magic.

What is the No-Show Policy?

In effect, as of August 7: if you do not cancel online and in advance (you have up to 90 minutes before class to do this) to release a spot to others and you do NOT attend, one of two things will happen: One class will be deducted from your Class Pass (for 10-Class Pass, 20-Class Pass holders, etc.) OR you will be charged $19 using your credit card on file (if you have an unlimited pass or are an auto-renew member).

What is Modo Yoga community all about?

Modo Yoga is a community of independent hot yoga studios, guided by our 6 Pillars, united by our love for yoga, and dedicated to creating a more sustainable world. With over 70 locations across North America, Europe and Australia – every studio is a place for all. We welcome all bodies and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or an experienced student.

What is Modo Yoga?

All Modo Yoga classes are built on the foundation of our Modo series – a dynamic system of postures and breathing exercises specifically designed to be practiced in the heat. Modo classes are accessible to all, from beginners to advanced students. A typical Modo class will have around 40 postures. Each class is intended to open, strengthen and relax the entire body.

How hot is Modo Yoga?

Classes are headed to around 40 degrees celsius with about 40% humidity. External weather conditions and the number of students in the class can have an effect on the temperature inside the room. If you’ve never practiced hot yoga before it might feel quite hot during your first class, but over time, your body will acclimatize to the heat. Students are encouraged move through each class at their own pace, taking rest and water when needed.

What is the minimum age to practice in the hot room?

Minimum age is 15 WITH an adult or supervising adult in attendance in class. 16-year-olds may attend solo WITH signed parental consent on file. Please, for the health and safety of your young ones, do not bring your children to a heated class if they are younger than 15.

Is Modo yoga a cardio workout?

Yup, it sure is! Your heart will thank you for taking Modo classes!

I'm the least flexible person in the entire world...

We've definitely heard that before! Being the least flexible person in the entire world is the best reason to try a Modo Yoga class! But really, don’t worry if you can't touch your toes or balance on one foot – flexibility will come with time. You don’t have to be flexible to try your first class. Flexibility will increase the longer you continue to practice with us!

What should I wear?

Wear something that you feel comfortable in that is easy to move around in. You will probably sweat a lot, so lightweight, breathable materials that will absorb sweat and dry quickly are best. Shorts or leggings, a tee-shirt or a tank top are all great options.

What should I bring?

You'll need a yoga mat and water for class. You might also want a mat towel, depending on how much you sweat. We have filtered water available at the studio so BYOB – bring your own bottle! Yoga mats, mat towels, shower towels and water bottles are NOT available to rent at this time. But, you can certainly buy one if you don't have your own.

How long are Modo Yoga classes?

Modo Yoga classes are currently 60 minutes long. We will get back to our longer practices (75 and 90) when this wild world settles down a bit.

I'm running late for class...

Stuff happens – we totally get it! But unfortunately, we can't let latecomers in once class has started. Every class starts and ends on time to help provide a peaceful and undisrupted experience for all. The door is locked at class time, and no one may enter the studio after that. There is a No-Show Policy in place, so PLEASE plan your day to arrive in plenty of time for practice if you are scheduled.

What are some of the benefits of yoga?

Yoga builds strength and flexibility. It also makes us more aware of our breath, which ultimately helps to relax and calm the body and mind. People who practice regularly often notice that they are happier, have better focus, and are more able to handle the stresses of everyday life.
