Shayla’s introduction to yoga and “stretch-dance” classes came during her early teens in Toronto. She loved how the movements made her feel, and it was fun! When she became an adult – while it was still for fun – yoga shifted to something much deeper for her: a healing practice on and off the mat. Modo Yoga worked for her right from her very first class in Edmonton in 2008. She felt the deep-intention of this community and the Modo Pillars. Shayla is trained in Modo Level 1 & 2, Flow, Modo Fit & Calm; along with Yin, Yoga Nidra, Chair Yoga, Curvy Yoga (for all-bodies), Deep Flow, Restorative Bodywork and Trauma-Informed Yoga. She is filled with gratitude for her many teachers over the years. Shayla is also a Breathwork Facilitator (‘BIG BRAVE LOVE’) and has been an ASL Interpreter for 20+ years, offering a-love for learning and a passion for accessibility through this work. Shayla believes Yoga is the art of living – so she says, “let’s learn, explore, and breathe together!”
