HANDSTAND LAB

Adho Mukha Vrksasana strengthens shoulders, arms, and wrists, improves circulation, helps focus the mind, and supports physical and emotional balance and stability. And yet, we face challenges in handstand from time to time – fear of falling, “banana back”, not feeling strong enough, to name a few. In this intensive, Donna provides the essential building blocks for a healthy handstand practice. She will offer variations and modifications. By better understanding how hands, wrists, arms, shoulders, pelvis and legs work together, you will be able to adjust and fine-tune your handstand.

WARRIOR 2 LAB

Virabhadrasana II can sometimes feel like a pose we do on the way to somewhere else, right? That being said, if we spend any time in the pose, we realize what a challenge it can be!

In this intensive, Donna will teach a sequence to help you better understand this fundamental posture. Come fine-tune your Warrior II and build leg stability while increasing hip mobility safely.

The benefits of this pose are many! It opens the chest so the lungs can function better. Urdhva Dhanurasana also massages the kidneys and stimulates the adrenal glands, which make us feel more energized and alive. In this intensive, Donna will demonstrate how to safely build up to this pose by properly preparing the shoulder girdle, understanding arm and leg rotations, and opening the quadriceps to help free the front body. Donna will ensure that everyone finds access to this posture in a way that is appropriate for their current practice.

THE ART OF BACK BENDING

The measure of a good back bend practice is not how deep the posture is, but how long we enjoy life with a healthy and nourished spine. In this intensive, Donna will cover methods to consciously prepare the body for back bending that create a balanced load on the spine and neck to ensure a stable structure and an enjoyable experience.

Donna will provide thorough instruction to help you deepen your knowledge and inform your back bending practice.

FORWARD BENDS FORM AND FUNCTION

In this intensive, Donna will teach the proper biomechanics of a forward bend to help protect the lower back and hamstrings. With the help of the femurs, we’ll learn to lift the pelvis to maintain the curves of the spine. Donna will incorporate levels of modification for different restrictions and abilities. Learning how to work with intelligence in our forward bends will help us to safely practice these nourishing postures.
