What is Modo Yoga community all about?

Modo Yoga is a community of independent hot yoga studios, guided by our 6 Pillars, united by our love for yoga, and dedicated to creating a more sustainable world. With studio locations across North America and Europe – every Modo studio is a place for all. We welcome all bodies and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or an experienced student.

What is Modo Yoga?

All Modo Yoga classes are built on the foundation of our Modo series – a dynamic system of postures and breathing exercises specifically designed to be practiced in the heat. Modo classes are accessible to all, from beginners to advanced students. A typical Modo class will have around 40 postures. Each class is intended to open, strengthen and relax the entire body.

How hot is Modo Yoga?

Classes are headed to around 37-40 degrees celsius with about 40% - 50% humidity. External weather conditions and the number of students in the class can have an effect on the temperature inside the room. If you’ve never practiced hot yoga before it might feel quite hot during your first class, but over time, your body will acclimatize to the heat. Students are encouraged to move through each class at their own pace, to take rest and drink water as often as needed.

Is Modo yoga a cardio workout?

Yup, it sure is! But it's equally a work "in" - you'll see!

I'm the least flexible person in the entire world...

We've definitely heard that before! Being the least flexible person in the entire world is the best reason to try a Modo Yoga class! But really, don’t worry if you can't touch your toes or balance on one foot – flexibility and balance will come with time. You don’t have to be flexible to try yoga. Dive in and reap the benefits of a regular Modo practice with our Introductory Month - 30 unlimited days for $49!

What should I wear?

Wear something that you feel comfortable in that is easy to move around in. You will probably sweat a lot, so lightweight, breathable materials that will absorb sweat and dry quickly are best. Shorts or leggings, a tee-shirt or a tank top are all great options.

What should I bring?

Bring your own everything: a yoga mat, a large towel and filled water bottle (or two) for for class. In case you forget your own water bottle, you can purchase in studio a Modo Mason Jar for $3 for yours to keep. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, we currently do not offer mat or towel rentals, and showers are not available for use for the time being.

How long are Modo Yoga classes?

Modo Yoga classes 45, 60, 75 or 90 minutes long. We have a variety of classes at various lengths, so please check the schedule to see what works for you!

What are some of the benefits of yoga?

Yoga builds strength and flexibility. It also makes us more aware of our breath, which ultimately helps to relax and calm the body and mind. People who practice regularly often notice that they are happier, have better focus, and are more able to handle the stresses of everyday life.

I'm running late for class...

Stuff happens – we totally get it! But unfortunately, we don't allow latecomers to attend class once class has started (not even by 1 minute). Every class starts and ends on time to help provide a peaceful experience for all, and to be respectful of everyone's time.

Where do I park?

There is plenty of on-street meter parking available close to the studio along: Duckworth St., Water St. (some 2-hour free parking spots along Water St. East), and 4-hour parking along Harbour Drive - all free after 6pm and on weekends. Access to a small private parking lot on Duckworth (across from the studio) is usually open for public use after 5:30pm on weekdays and all hours on weekends. A private parking lot on the corner of Prescott and Duckworth is usually open for public use after 5pm on weekdays and all hours on weekends. You can view more city parking information here:
